From Everlasting to Everlasting

Can you fend off a shark? The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Game is a board game that was released in 2006. The game challenges players to use their survival instincts and skills to overcome dangerous and interesting circumstances. Situations like: Can you survive a five-story fall? Clear a jammed copy machine? Land a crashing airplane? Regrettably, I think many of us feel like we have continuously lived through worst-case scenario situations over the last two years and are still trying to figure out how to overcome them.

The world around us may still seem overwhelming and unsettled, maybe even disastrous. While 2021 brought some relief, we are still bombarded by daunting news of current events and heartbreaking situations that can produce anxiety and fear in us all.

Although many temporal things—including COVID-19—may feel permanent, we know that only God is truly everlasting and eternal. “The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired” (Isaiah 40:28). We may feel weary and tired, but God is not. His strength and presence are unwavering. From everlasting to everlasting, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He is with us always—especially when we are weary, tired, and afraid.

It is important to remember that we are called to live in this world but not of this world. We need to have a sense of what is going on around us and pray for our leaders and those who are suffering, but not allow the events of this world to consume us. It’s not an easy task, but we are called to lift our eyes toward God and focus on His everlasting presence.

My prayer is that this company has been a beacon for you during a very tough time in our country’s history, that our advisors and staff have exuded grace and hope during a time of fear and uncertainty. May you and your families know and experience the everlasting presence of God this holiday season!
